Relay for Life

Sadly, we've all lost friends or family to cancer, which sort of makes this fight personal. One of our favorite charities is Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research.

Actually, Patty's trusty assistant Ann got involved with Relay for Life several years ago, and organized a team. Since Ann is an accomplished Belly Dance instructor many of the team members were students and fellow teachers. For the past few years, we've helped sponsor the team (and we even walk a few laps!).

Our Relay Team Includes Many Belly Dancers . . .

The idea is team members find people to sponsor them in walking for 24 hours. While there are doubtless young people who could happily walk that long, we're no longer numbered among them. So, it's run as a relay. Our team will have at least one person (and quite often many more) circling the track for 24 hours. Even in the wee cold hours of night, rain or snow, come wind or typhoon, we'll be there. OK, if it's that bad, we'll send some hardy soul to brave the weather for a lap while the rest of us huddle in our tent . . . but you get the idea.

This year's sign up is just starting. As an extra incentive, we'll design a unique Coyotes Against Cancer shirt every year that we'll give to any team member who gets $100 or more in pledges. This year, Ann is helping design the shirt. She said something about a metallic silver wolf against a dark purple shirt . . .
